MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — The Monongalia County Commission focused attention on how the county will manage opioid settlement funds in the coming year and how it will continue animal control services across local municipalities during their regular meeting Wednesday.

Monongalia County, like other counties across West Virginia, is receiving money as part of a national legal settlement with pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors tied to the opioid epidemic.

Commissioners reviewed updates to the recipient list for Fiscal Year 2026 Monongalia County Opioid Settlement Grants. These grants are intended to support local organizations that provide treatment, recovery and prevention services for residents affected by substance use disorder.
