STATESBORO, Ga. ( WRDW /Gray News) – A man in a Georgia state prison has been sentenced to 80 years in federal prison for creating and mailing destructive devices while incarcerated.

Investigators found evidence that revealed 57-year-old David Dwayne Cassady built and mailed two bombs to the United States Courthouse in Anchorage, Alaska, and to the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

According to the United States Department of Justice, Cassady was imprisoned at Georgia State Prison in Reidsville when he built and sent those bombs. Georgia State Prison closed in 2022.
