MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Tylenol is one of the most common medications pregnant women reach for, but a new push from the Trump administration is raising questions about its safety.

President Donald Trump and federal health officials this week suggested that Tylenol use during pregnancy could be linked to autism, calling on the Food and Drug Administration to add warning labels. They are also promoting the cancer drug leucovorin as a possible treatment for children already diagnosed with autism.

But doctors and pharmacists in the Mid-South said the science doesn’t support those claims.

“There are numerous studies that have looked at the safety of using Tylenol in pregnancy to treat pain and fever, and almost all of those studies have emphasized that it is safe and effective,” said Dr. Aric Gidde
