PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - As the Greater Peoria Honor Flight expands to impact more of our Central Illinois veterans, Hy-Vee is stepping up to help.

Tuesday, Hy-Vee presented the non-profit with a $70,000 check, raised through fundraisers by 12 stores in Central Illinois.

The donation comes after Hy-Vee announced a partnership with the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, which is allowing the group to offer a fifth flight to veterans for the first time.

Seeking to honor veterans who may not have been given a hero’s welcome when they returned, support like this helps shorten the wait for them.

“The list is getting shorter, finally. We’re finally getting our list to where we’re almost managed. Veterans aren’t going to have to wait as long if we continue this in our community,” explained Greater
