PORTLAND, Ore. — TriMet is asking riders for input to help shape two rounds of large-scale service cuts planned for November 2026 and December 2027 as the agency works to close a $300 million budget gap. An online survey available through Oct. 31 asks riders to rank different service reduction scenarios in order of preference, and a series of online and in-person open houses are also planned throughout October.
TriMet said options under discussion for the cuts include reduced service frequency; service hour reductions; eliminating some bus routes altogether; and shortening the MAX Green Line to only run between Gateway Transit Center and Clackamas Town Center, meaning riders heading to downtown Portland would need to transfer to a Red or Blue line train at Gateway.
