GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — On Wednesday afternoon, Billy Knoeppchen, 48, appeared virtually in custody for his first court appearance.

On Tuesday, Knoeppchen was arrested for allegedly assaulting an elderly man and fleeing from police. He was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility for assault in the third degree, criminal mischief, third-degree assault against at-risk persons, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, disorderly conduct and indecent exposure. He was also taken in on a fugitive warrant from Garfield County.

An officer from the Grand Junction Police Department who supervised the incident, Corporal Litzau, spoke in the courtroom, providing additional information about the incident to "paint a better picture."
