Children at a local mosque were left terrified after a window was smashed by a stranger using a metal pole in a "violent attack ".

The incident at Masjid Yusuf, on Stamperland Gardens, in Clarkston, took place while children were at Quran class at around 5.30pm on Wednesday, September 24, leaving their families and the wider community shaken.

Police Scotland were contacted and are investigating the incident in order to bring those responsible to justice.

A spokesperson for Clarkston Community Centre said: "During the children's classes, an unknown individual smashed a mosque window from the outside with a metal pole.
