Chef Mike’s Atlantic Bar & Grill and the Island Beach Motor Lodge in South Seaside Park will be demolished and replaced with 16 homes.

Developer Arya Properties will take ownership of both properties at 24th Street and Central Avenue on Oct. 1. Demolition of the motel is expected to begin by the end of October, a representative for the developer said.

The Island Beach Motor Lodge, which has been family owned and operated since 1989, will close Oct. 1.

Chef Mike’s Atlantic Bar & Grill will remain open through December 31, but with a change. It will no longer have a liquor license by the end of the month so it will become Atlantic Grill and operate as a BYOB, Chef Mike Jurusz said in a social media post Sept. 12.
