Two storms in the western Atlantic are headed towards the U.S. East Coast—Invest 94L and tropical storm Humberto.
"What's unusual about this is the proximity of Humberto to 94L," said a National Weather Service (NWS) spokesperson at the service's 11 a.m. briefing. "One system like Humberto could dominate, leading 94L to diminish, or both systems could become hurricanes."
94L is currently ahead of Humberto as a tropical wave sitting in the Caribbean Sea, producing showers, thunderstorms and strong winds across parts of the Dominican Republic and Turks and Caicos Islands, according to the NWS . It will likely become a tropical cyclone within the next week, and even in the next couple of days.
