A Nashville middle school teacher is on paid leave after he was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.

An investigation into Alexander Donahoe, a teacher at Jere Baxter Middle School, was launched in March after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported a computer with an IP address in Nashville was being used to conduct reverse image searches.

Subpoenas of the internet service provider identified Donahoe, 28, as the subscriber.

When questioned by police, Donahoe admitted to possessing child sexual material, investigators said.

Michael Cass, a spokesperson with Metro Nashville Public Schools, confirmed Donahoe had been placed on paid leave, effective immediately, once the charges had been brought to light.
