WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - As all 50 states participate in a nationwide effort to cut down on overdoses, Thursday was “Save a Life Day,” or “Free Nalaxone Day.” As part of lifesaving efforts, a group in Wichita is among those stepping up to make sure that people have access to the drug used to reverse opioid overdoses.
Safe Streets Wichita is partnering with Remedy Alliance for the People, distributing 4,000 boxes of Naloxone (Narcan) throughout Wichita. Organizers believe it’s a crucial tool for those battling addiction.
“Our main focus is, if we can keep them alive and people can breathe, then we can take those steps with them,” said Safe Streets Wichita Outreach Coordinator Cat Butler.
Volunteers play a big part in the mission, packing boxes of Naloxone with instructions on how to use th
