Over the past few weekends, tens of thousands of college football fans, players, coaches, officials and staff have had to vacate stadiums at various sites around the nation as severe weather has postponed games.
Earlier this month, the kickoff for Southern Cal at Purdue was delayed by 3 1/2 hours because of lightning strikes within an 8-mile radius of Ross-Aide Stadium. That same weekend, Syracuse and Clemson cleared the field at Death Valley for nearly two hours. It was the second weather delay of the season for the Tigers, who also had cleared out two weeks prior, during their game with Troy (Purdue also went through another weather delay this past weekend in South Bend while facing Notre Dame).
