Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, has announced plans for a free digital ID card for all individuals living in the UK today (September 26).
However, as more reports roll out about the scheme some have been left wondering what exactly this could mean for the future.
Sir Keir said his plans are designed to help combat illegal working and help crack down on criminal gangs, while also allegedly making it easier for every UK resident to access government services.
According to the government this digital ID should make it simpler to apply for services such as driving licences, childcare and welfare, as well as streaming access to tax records.
