A group of suspects are facing charges after authorities said they uncovered an alligator poaching ring in Florida thanks to videos posted on social media.

The group of men allegedly used an airboat to capture the gators, then shot them and processed them, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said in a report.

One video showed a gator being shot with a handgun. Photos included in the report showed alligators being captured and skinned.

Investigators tracked the videos down to a man in Mims, in Brevard County, and also found an alligator dumping site with gator carcasses nearby, the report said.
