ROCKWOOD, Tenn. (WATE) — The Roane County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was found dead early Friday morning.

The body was found along Caney Creek Road near Joiner Hollow Road around 4:30 a.m. A car associated with the deceased was found off the road less than a mile away, Roane County Chief Deputy Tim Phillips said.

An identity has not been publicly released. Phillips said the deceased is a white male believed to be about 28 years old.

The body was transported to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center an autopsy.
