BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - In the weight room, LSU Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Katie Guillory is in her element.

Her athletes call her Guil.

“Part of my job is what I believe looks like a strength coach,” said Guillory. “I want to be able to demonstrate things for athletes correctly, so they understand precisely and efficiently what’s going on. Then I want to be able to feel great, feel strong.”

You can find her in the gym, getting the LSU beach volleyball and LSU gymnastics teams stronger.

The Lafayette native was once in their shoes.

She was a LSU softball player from 2008 to 2013 . She played under head coaches Yvette Girouard then Beth Torina.
