PAYETTE COUNTY, Idaho — Inmates at the Payette County Jail forcibly breached a secured door between housing pods over the weekend, according to a statement released by Sheriff Andy Creech.

An inmate in Pod 200 attempted to confront another inmate housed in Pod 100. The individuals had been intentionally separated; however, the sheriff reported that the confrontation happened due to the jail's limited capacity and facility options for housing and separating inmates.

According to the sheriff, jail staff promptly identified the breach and took steps to regain control of the affected areas. No staff injuries were reported, but the incident caused structural damage to the door.
