Two men dead after gunfire in lobby of downtown Minneapolis apartment building

Two men have died after a fight in a downtown Minneapolis apartment building lobby escalated to gunfire Saturday afternoon.

What was first reported as a fight in the first floor lobby of the building at 15 E. Grant St., in the Loring Park neighborhood, was then escalated to a shooting just before 2 p.m.

Police arrived and took one man into custody. They then found two more men dead at the scene – one on the first floor and another on the second.

Officers also recovered a shotgun and shells at the scene.

In a press conference, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara says all three men involved were known to each other, were all residents of the apartment complex, and had reportedly been fighting just before the shooting.

The investigation into the shooting continues.
