FARGO — Among the multiple shortcomings of South Dakota's defense is a secondary that has struggled. Bryce Lance and Cole Payton took advantage.

The senior wide receiver and quarterback connected four times for 98 yards and a touchdown in the first half, helping the Bison to a 34-3 halftime lead en route to a 51-13 victory over the Coyotes on Saturday at the Fargodome.

"Me and Cole came into together as true freshmen, so I remember one time we found a baseball field in the summer to go throw," Lance said. "It's a connection grown throughout our time here.
