The owners of a takeaway which was sent crumbling to the ground after a car ploughed into the front of it on Sunday (September 28) have spoken out.

Police, paramedics and fire crews raced to the incident on Bridge Street in Heywood at around 4am following reports that a car had struck a building.

The incident happened during a police pursuit, in which a car struck the Heywood Star takeaway and was crushed by bricks and falling debris. A man, who was rushed to hospital, was later arrested in connection with the incident.
