As fall arrives in the Sacramento region, following what was a cooler-than-usual summer, I find myself reflecting on life in our beloved community.

There’s a popular segment on a national morning sports show that airs every Wednesday called “What Are You Mad About?” Today, I’d like to flip that script and share a few thoughts in a spirit of gratitude. Let’s call this column: “What Are You Thankful For?”

I’m thankful to have celebrated another birthday in reasonably good health, surrounded by a wonderful wife, children, grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and extended family.

I’m thankful that, more than 50 years ago, I met Dr. William H. Lee, a meeting that sparked a lasting relationship with The Sacramento OBSERVER; a relationship that continues to this day.
