DES MOINES, Iowa (KWQC) - Dr. Ian Roberts, the Des Moines superintendent detained by immigration authorities, had his license revoked by the Iowa Board of Education Examiners Sunday.

The board found Roberts no longer has “legal presence in the United States” and is therefore unable to hold a license, according to a board order.

On Friday, Roberts was detained by ICE .

In a media release, ICE officers said they approached Roberts in his vehicle during a targeted enforcement operation.

Officers said they later found Roberts’ vehicle near a wooded area. Iowa State Patrol and special agents responded and found Roberts.

ICE agents said Roberts is “a criminal illegal alien from Guyana in possession of a loaded handgun, $3,000 in cash and a fixed blade hunting knife.”
