COLUMBUS, Ohio — A cherished family orchard, a cornerstone of a community in Licking County since the 1970s, is beginning to rebuild after a heartbreaking loss.
A dozen fire departments responded early Sunday morning to a massive blaze at the Legend Hills Orchard farmer’s market near Utica. The fire burned through the metal roof before crews arrived, making it impossible to save the building, fire officials said.
In daylight, the extent of the damage became painfully clear. According to the County Line Joint Fire District, the building was deemed a total loss.
“It is a tragic event,” said owner Susan Hatch.
Despite the destruction, Hatch emphasized that no one was injured.
“No one was hurt and that’s the most important thing,” she said. “We are going to be okay. We are usually open ye
