CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Brookford officer is facing charges after allegedly using her position to interfere in a child sexual abuse investigation in Davidson County.

Jennifer Aree Myers, 44, a sworn law enforcement officer with Brookford PD, has been charged with felony accessing government computers and obstruction of justice. Authorities said she used police databases to help tip off a suspect under investigation for child sexual abuse.

That suspect, Jeremy Lanning Amburn, 43, was the focus of a criminal investigation in Denton. Investigators allege that Myers, along with her husband, Benjamin Geoffrey Myers, a Davidson County EMT, accessed government systems to get information about the case and alert Amburn.
