The Manitoba government is rolling out new technology to keep drivers safe and informed, with 20 permanent digital message boards and 19 highway cameras being installed across the province.
Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor announced the upgrades today, saying they will give Manitobans real-time updates while travelling.
"These upgrades are about more than technology, they're about safety," Naylor said in a news release. "We're giving Manitobans the real-time information they need to make smart travel decisions, especially when weather and road conditions change quickly."
The new message boards will be placed along major routes, including Provincial Trunk Highway 1, 1E, 6, 75, 100 and 101, near Emerson, Portage la Prairie, Thompson, Winnipeg and other key locations.
