September 30 marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as well as Orange Shirt Day, an opportunity for Manitobans to pause to honour the victims and survivors of Canada’s residential school system and reflect on its intergenerational reverberations and the province's relations with Indigenous communities overall.

Orange Shirt Day is a recent provincial statutory holiday — it was instituted in Manitoba in 2023.
