Police are investigating a fire at the constituency office of a Manitoba cabinet minister.

Winnipeg police say the major crimes unit is investigating a blaze at the office of Families Minister Nahanni Fontaine, which is in a small one-storey building.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service says the fire was reported around 5 a.m., crews responded and got it under control within 40 minutes.

There was no one in the building at the time and officials say damage has not yet been estimated.
