CASTRO COUNTY, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – One woman is dead and a man is injured after their vehicle struck a tree on Sunday evening within the city limits of Hart.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at approximately 4:23 p.m. on Sunday, a 2025 Toyota Rav driven by a 66-year-old man from Pineland was "traveling northbound at an unsafe speed on Date Street." The vehicle then left the roadway and struck a tree, and then proceeded to catch fire.

Officials stated the 66-year-old man was transported to a local hospital in Dimmitt and then airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock with serious injuries. The passenger, a 69-year-old woman from Emory, was also transported to the same hospital in Dimmitt, where she was later pronounced dead due to the injuries she sustained in t
