CHARLES TOWN — The Future of Fire Service made its way to Citizens Fire Company Tuesday, Sept. 23 as the Jefferson County Commission heard directly from fire safety professionals throughout the county. As the county conducts a fire service study, the commission hopes to hear from the community about how they improve services and make the county a safer place for everyone.
Commissioner Mike Mood kicked off the discussion by explaining the main purpose of these meetings. He described it as the polar opposite of what happened with the recent EMS study. The goal was to get input from volunteers and others working at the fire departments, incorporating those ideas into the fire service study to get a better idea of what fire service will look like in Jefferson County in the next 20 years.
