MINNEAPOLIS — A south Minneapolis theater announced it's at risk of shutting down due to rising costs, declining ticket sales and shifting audience habits.
The Hook and Ladder Theater & Lounge , in the Longfellow neighborhood, posted on social media that it has launched a fundraising campaign to stay open.
The Facebook post states that the theater, started in 2016, needs to raise $75,000 by Oct. 31.
"These funds will cover critical operational costs and ensure our stages continue to host live music, charity fundraisers, and cultural events for another decade," the post reads.
Employees at the Hook and Ladder, the former historic Firehouse #21 located at East Lake Street and Minnehaha Avenue, have set up the "I Love the Hook" fundraiser on a GiveMN.org site for donations.
