Officers with Sault Ste. Marie Police Services have charged 61-year-old Richard Demarchi following an altercation in the 100 block of Pilgrim Street.

At around 6 p.m. on Sept. 27, police say they responded to a 911 call reporting a dispute. Upon arrival, officers found that Demarchi had slashed a tire on the victim’s vehicle. When confronted about the damage, he allegedly threatened the victim with a knife.

Demarchi was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.

He remains in custody pending his appearance in weekend and statutory holiday court.
