ROCKFORD, Ill. — A family-owned restaurant in south Rockford is going out of business.

On Sunday, Sept. 28, Sunrise Family Restaurant owner Shamil Asani announced in a post on Facebook that he will close his business at 5683 Wansford Way in Rockford.

"After many wonderful years of serving this community, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors," Asani said.

"We want to extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who walked through our doors — whether you were a regular, a first-timer, or someone who simply stopped by for a meal and stayed for the memories. Your support, your smiles, and your stories have meant the world to us."

"This restaurant has been more than just a business — it has been a gathering place, a second home, and a part of so many lives.
