SUTTONS BAY — Nearly 50 firefighters from 11 departments responded Saturday to a commercial building fire at the Leelanau Fire Company on South West Bayshore Drive.
Per a Sept. 29 news release, Suttons Bay-Bingham Fire & Rescue said crews were dispatched Sept. 27 to 2900 S. West Bayshore Dr. after an employee reported an appliance fire inside the building. Emergency crews arrived within six minutes and found flames and smoke coming from the roof.
Firefighters advanced a hoseline into the building and brought the interior fire under control in about 10 minutes. The fire had spread to the roof, where multiple aerial ladders were used to contain and inspect the damage.
