Plan ahead - Carlisle drivers will be detoured for a week for roundabout project

Part of Route 11 (Hanover Street) in Carlisle, Cumberland County, will be closed for a week for completion of a roundabout.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Route 11 will be closed to through traffic from Route 641 (High Street) to Clay Street from Monday, Oct. 6, through Monday, Oct. 13, weather permitting.

PennDOT said a section of Route 34 that runs concurrently with Route 11 from Route 641 to Kerrs Avenue also will be closed. Traffic will be detoured during the work on the $7.4 million project.

The detours are:

Traffic on southbound Route 34 will take K Street west to Pitt Street south to Route 11 north to Route 34.

Traffic on northbound Route 34 will take Route 641 east to East Street north to Clay Street north to Route 34.
