The Red Sox rotation took a big blow on Monday when manager Alex Cora announced Lucas Giolito won’t be on the American League Wild Card roster .

Giolito, who was projected to be the Game 3 starter against the New York Yankees if needed, is dealing with an elbow injury . Cora mentioned the pitcher is in Alabama to visit Dr. Jeffrey Dugas, the orthopedic surgeon who performed the internal bracing procedure in March 2024 .

Garrett Crochet will pitch Game 1 while Brayan Bello will get the ball for Game 2. It’s unclear now who will pitch should there be a Game 3 at Yankee Stadium.
