(FOX40.COM) — A Sacramento man pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft on Sept. 15, according to the U.S. Attorney Eric Grant. • Video above: New US job numbers released

The Department of Justice said the court documents show that from July through September 2020, Roosevelt Gulley III, 41, of Sacramento, participated in a COVID fraud scheme targeting unemployment insurance administered by the California Employment Development Department.

The DOJ stated Gulley collected personal information that included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and other information. He then electronically submitted the information for UI benefits to the California EDD in those people's names.
