Pennsylvania state legislators had a June 30 deadline to finalize a state budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Now it's almost October, and there’s still no budget.

The state's failure to reach a decision has come at the expense of numerous counties across the commonwealth, including Crawford County, which has been forced to change some protocols because of the impasse.

"We suspended all of the purchasing policies. You can only purchase things for less than 50 dollars. We also have a hiring freeze, and only emergency travel is being approved right now," said Eric Henry, Crawford County Commissioner.
