Richland Twp. Pa (WJET/WFXP)-- A Venango County man is facing felony charges after police said he was driving under the influence during a fatal crash earlier this month outside the victim's home along a state highway.

Charges have been filed against 38-year-old Bradley Barnhart of Kennerdell, PA, for allegedly causing the fatal crash that happened the afternoon of September 13.

PSP Franklin said 73-year-old Lane Russell was walking towards his mailbox at his home on PA Route 38 when Barnhart, who was trying to negotiate the curve in the road in his SUV, went off the road and struck him.

Russell was allegedly hit near his front yard by Barnhart, who then hit the mailbox before getting back on the road and taking off heading north. Russell was declared dead at the scene.
