FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Four residential buildings in Fall River have replaced recalled sprinkler systems identified during recent inspections, according to city officials.
The Fall River Fire Department said its Prevention Bureau found a group home, a shelter and two boarding houses with recalled sprinkler heads earlier this month.
Property owners, who were unaware of the recall, "acted swiftly" once notified. The sprinklers were reportedly replaced within the required two weeks, with temporary fire watches in place until the work was finished.
The sprinklers, made by the Central Sprinkler Company between the 1970s and 2001, were among 35 million recalled nationwide because corrosion and mineral buildup could cause the heads to not to activate during a fire, according to the Consume
