PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The murder of Charlie Kirk has sparked calls to tone down the political rhetoric. But a Republican Arizona lawmaker finds himself in hot water, drawing national attention after calling for a Democratic congresswoman to be tried, convicted and hanged for treason.

“We want to help seed, participate, and coordinate these non-violent resistance actions,” said Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal in a video posted on YouTube nearly six months ago. It was a clip from the Washington lawmaker’s “ Resistance Lab ” series to help organize peaceful protests.

‘If we were in the labor movement and shout out to any of our union members that are on this call, we might call this getting strike ready, I think of it as getting strike ready or street ready," Jayapal said.
