TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Have you ever heard a student ask: “Why do I have to learn this?”

It’s a familiar problem and the impetus behind a new education solution in Cochise County.

The online CommunityShare platform is like a dating app to connect teachers with community members who can engage and mentor students while creating meaningful learning experiences.

Cochise County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jacqui Clay said educators have to make lessons relevant to students.

“One of the challenges with students is the why, why am I here,” Clay said. “If we don’t give them motivation, direction, purpose, and the biggest one is opportunity, If we don’t give them those things, what’s the point?”
