LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A fire at a Middletown apartment complex has left more than a dozen people displaced.

According to Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS, the incident happened in the 200 block of La Normandy Drive at the Vines at Shelby Crossing apartment complex just after 1 p.m. Monday.

Crews arrived within minutes finding smoke coming from a two-story, multi-unit apartment building. They quickly got inside the building to put out the fire and as they opened walls and ceilings, the firefighters noticed the fire had spread to other units through connecting walls.

There were four units closest to the fire that sustained moderate to significant damage while the other four had smoke damage.

AMFEMS said the building is structurally sound.
