On Wednesday, the Frederick County Board of Supervisors will hold a public meeting to hear from applicants for two vacant supervisor seats.

In August, former Gainesboro Supervisor Heather Lockridge announced her resignation, citing a need to spend more time with her family. Earlier this month, former Board Chairman Josh Ludwig resigned, saying he was relocating for his job.

Now, the remaining five supervisors must select temporary replacements for both seats until a special election is held on Nov. 3, 2026. The winners of the special election will serve the remainder of Lockridge’s and Ludwig’s respective terms, both of which expire on Dec. 31, 2027.
