BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (ABC4) -- Firefighters stopped a fire from destroying Old Grist Mill Bread Co. early Sunday morning. After which, the community stepped in to help clean up smoke damage so that the bakery could open its doors for business Monday morning.

Since 1992, Old Grist Mill has been serving up freshly baked bread and other goodies. On Sunday, things could have changed when a fire ignited inside the lobby area.

“The whole place was covered in soot, clear to the back,” Amy Thompson told ABC4. “Soot everywhere. And then, there was glass all over the floor because they had busted the door down. Shattered glass everywhere and water.”
