PHOENIX — Families with disabled children on Monday joined a company that specializes in autism services to call on Gov. Katie Hobbs to postpone service reductions to those with disabilities.

However, a state spokesman said the reductions will roll out on Wednesday as planned because of a new state law.

Hobbs has said she has no choice but to make reductions at the Division of Developmental Disabilities because enrollment continues to skyrocket and there are not enough state funds to cover all services.

Therefore, the DDD says reductions will begin after Oct. 1 for attendant care and habilitation services for up to 18,000 children under 18. Those programs provide in-home services for personal care like bathing, dressing, and toileting while also helping with daily living skills.
