DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings didn’t generate much attack Monday, losing 2-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a preseason game at Little Caesars Arena.

The Red Wings dressed about nine regular NHL players, including their second line of Alex DeBrincat, Marco Kasper and Patrick Kane, and faced mostly an AHL lineup. But they managed only 22 shots against Tristan Jarry and lost their third in a row (2-3-0).

Dominik Shine scored Detroit’s lone goal with 3:40 remaining in the third period.

John Gibson, making his second exhibition appearance, played the entire game and stopped 18-of-20 shots.

The Red Wings pulled Gibson for the extra skater with 3:12 remaining in the third and generated sustained pressure but couldn’t bury the equalizer past Jarry.
