DETROIT, MI – State parks and wildlife officials confirmed they are figuring out what to do about credible photographic evidence of an alligator at Belle Isle Park.
Visitors to the Detroit park on Friday, Sept. 26, alerted park workers to a possible alligator sighting though officials did not visually confirm the presence of the reptile for themselves.
Officials with the state Department of Natural Resources have since said they received a photo with geolocation data that is considered credible.
DNR authorities are coordinating a search of the area and determining next steps as a precaution, said agency spokesman Ed Golder.
