GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK (AZFamily) — After a nearly three-month battle, crews have fully contained a wildfire that consumed tens of thousands of acres and hundreds of buildings along the Grand Canyon’s North Rim.

The update was posted on the Kaibab National Forest’s social media accounts on Monday afternoon, announcing that the Dragon Bravo Fire was 100% contained. While not totally extinguished, incident commanders believe the fire is no longer at risk of spreading.

Lightning sparked the Dragon Bravo Fire on the evening of July 4. It grew slowly over the next few days, estimated at around 10 acres on July 7, and was managed for “resource objectives” as it was allowed to burn.

Weather conditions shifted considerably nearly a week later, with strong wind gusts and dry conditions. O
