LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — For decades, a North Las Vegas neighborhood has been slowly sinking. The Windsor Park community was built for Black families back in the 60s. Now only about ninety homes remain.

The residents have been promised brand new homes to be built nearby, paid for with government funding. After years of delays, work is finally underway.

The site that’s been secured for the entirely new community to be built is a vacant lot at Carey Avenue and West Street. Not far from the original neighborhood, 93 houses will be built. Monday morning, FOX5 met with some of the original residents there as work began, heavy equipment grading the land to become the new Windsor Park.

“We as a whole, as a community, we’re absolutely burnt out,” shared Nancy Johnson who has lived in Windsor Park
