Roswell loves a parade, and Main Street was lined with local familes and their children eager to take in the sights and sounds of the Eastern New Mexico State Fair Parade on a cool and slightly damp Monday morning.
Amid the honking of horns and the clatter of wooden sticks, parade goers waited patiently as the distant sound of sirens and marching bands edged closer and finally arrived, bringing a din of noise to the area in front of the Chaves County Courthouse.
Elisa Morales was watching the parade with her grandchildren Derrick and Desiré, as Desiré plugged her ears briefly as police and fire trucks sirens wailed. Morales said she thought one of her nephews might be in the parade.
